Every comparison of ChatGPT vs Claude vs Gemini eventually collapses into vibes: one person swears by Claude’s writing, another lives inside ChatGPT, a third points at Gemini’s Google integrations. So we skipped the vibes and ran 12 real marketing tasks through all three, using the current flagship models on the standard $20-ish paid tiers (ChatGPT Plus at $20, Claude Pro at $20 or $17 annual, Google AI Pro at $19.99). Same prompts, same briefs, judged on output we would actually ship. Here is what happened, test by test.
1. Long-Form Blog Post From a Detailed Brief
We gave each model a 400-word brief: target keyword, tone notes, structure, and a hard word count. Claude followed the brief most faithfully, holding tone and structure without drifting into generic filler. ChatGPT produced a punchier draft but ignored two structural requirements. Gemini’s draft was competent but read the most like AI. Winner: Claude.
2. Brand Voice Consistency Across a Style Guide
We pasted a two-page style guide and asked for five assets in that voice. Claude held the constraints across all five with almost no drift, which matches what most agencies report: when you hand it rules, it keeps them. ChatGPT nailed three of five before sliding back into its default voice. Gemini needed re-prompting twice. Winner: Claude.
3. Ad Copy Variations at Volume
Twenty Facebook ad variations for one offer, please. ChatGPT was built for this: fast, varied, caption-shaped lines you could ship after light edits. Claude’s variants were cleaner but noticeably samey by number 14. Gemini was fine but middle of the pack. Winner: ChatGPT.
4. Cold Email Sequence
A four-step cold email sequence with a specific persona and one hard rule: under 90 words per email. Claude kept every email under the limit and maintained a consistent thread of logic across the sequence. ChatGPT wrote livelier subject lines but blew the word count twice. If outbound copy is your bottleneck, this test matters more than most. Winner: Claude, with ChatGPT’s subject lines stolen for the final version.
5. SEO Content Brief and Keyword Clustering
We asked each to cluster 80 keywords and build a content brief. Gemini’s structural proximity to Google shows here: its clusters aligned best with actual SERP intent, and it can pull from Search Console and Analytics if you connect your Workspace. ChatGPT was solid, Claude adequate but more conservative. Winner: Gemini.
6. Landing Page Copy With Conversion Constraints
Hero, three benefit blocks, objection handling, CTA, all under 350 words. Claude produced the tightest draft with the least fluff to delete. ChatGPT’s version had more energy but needed a trim pass. Gemini buried the value proposition in paragraph two. Winner: Claude, narrowly.
7. A Month of Social Captions
Thirty captions across LinkedIn and Instagram from one content pillar doc. ChatGPT delivered the most usable calendar fastest, with platform-aware formatting and hashtags. Claude’s captions were better written but too uniform in rhythm. Gemini kept inserting hedges nobody asked for. Winner: ChatGPT.
8. Campaign Data Analysis
We uploaded a messy CSV of ad spend and asked for insights and anomalies. All three found the obvious trends. Gemini and ChatGPT went deeper on statistical anomalies, and both generated usable charts. Claude’s written summary of what to actually do next was the most decision-ready. Call this one a split. Winner: tie, ChatGPT and Gemini for depth, Claude for the narrative.
9. Research With Current Data
Competitor pricing research requiring live web data. Gemini and ChatGPT both handled real-time lookups well; Gemini’s answers tied into Google results most cleanly, while ChatGPT cited a broader source mix. Claude searched competently but was the most cautious about stating numbers, which is arguably correct but less immediately useful. Winner: Gemini, ChatGPT close behind.
10. Image and Creative Generation
Ad mockups and a hero image concept. This is not close: ChatGPT’s native image generation and Gemini’s Imagen-backed output both produce usable creative, and Claude does not generate images at all. Between the two, Gemini edged ahead on photorealism, ChatGPT on following layout instructions. Winner: Gemini, barely.
11. Google Ads and Ecosystem Tasks
Drafting RSA headlines, pulling insights from Analytics, working inside Docs and Sheets. If your marketing stack is Google Workspace plus Google Ads, Gemini’s native integrations are a structural advantage the other two cannot match, full stop. It is also the cheapest ecosystem to scale, with a 1M-token context on the Pro plan. Winner: Gemini.
12. Repurposing a Webinar Into Five Assets
One 8,000-word transcript into a blog post, email, three social posts, a one-pager, and a YouTube description. Claude’s large context and instruction-following made it the most reliable single-pass performer; ChatGPT required splitting the job but produced snappier social cuts. Gemini handled the length fine but homogenized the voice across assets. Winner: Claude.
The Verdict: ChatGPT vs Claude vs Gemini
Final tally: Claude 5, ChatGPT 3, Gemini 4, with one tie. But the tally misses the real finding: the quality gap at the top is the smallest it has ever been, and the deciding factors are now workflow fit, ecosystem, and price. Our honest recommendation is a stack: Claude for anything where writing quality and constraints matter, ChatGPT for volume and creative breadth, Gemini if you live in Google’s ecosystem or need cheap scale. At $20 a month each, running two of the three costs less than one seat of most marketing SaaS.
